The old printer works again
After replacing the hotendThis is where the plastic actually melted. It is part of the extruder which contains the pusher and the barrel as well. and the heated bed the old printer back in prime condition again
In our last news we told we replaced the hotendThis is where the plastic actually melted. It is part of the extruder which contains the pusher and the barrel as well. of the old printer. It worked fine, but the new hotendThis is where the plastic actually melted. It is part of the extruder which contains the pusher and the barrel as well. is so heavy the carriage couldn't flip up if something is in its way. So we had to come up with a different solution for this. The new printer has soft springs to support the bed which works pretty well, so we decided to use that solution on the old printer (there were very strong spings under that bed). We replaced the heater of the heated bed because we had to disassemble the whole bed anyway.
The new heater is plugged into the power outlet directly instead of the power supply, so it could be stronger (the new heater is about twice as powerful than the old one was) and more energy efficient. And the bigger heater means higher possible temperature which will be useful when we try to print with new materials in the near future. We will try nylon first - the filamentThis is the plastic which is used as a source for the printRead more has already arrived.
Of course we had to set up the new bed, but after several tries we got it. And the old printer proved that cooling is very important - it has printed a model the new one was unable to print. We will try the linklings next time.
